Randolph Harris

Randolph "Randy" Harris, 84 of Lincoln, passed away April 25, 2025.

Randy was born on May 2, 1940 in Omaha, Neb. to M. Rees and Marie (Donovan) Harris. He had two younger brothers, Mike and Greg. As a young child, Randy lived with his family in Fremont, Neb. He had a large extended family with many aunts, uncles and cousins, who he enjoyed spending time with all throughout his life. He moved with his parents and brothers to California and graduated from Grossmont High School in Grossmont, Calif.

Randy served his country in the United States Army from 1964 – 1967 and was stationed in Germany. He attained the rank of Corporal and earned the Sharpshooter award with his M-14 rifle.

He lived in California most of his adult life where he spent many weekends volunteering with the Boy Scouts. He earned his living as a mailroom supervisor at California State University at Northridge. He was honored for 25 years of service to the state of California.

In 1990, he moved back to Nebraska and resided in Grand Island to help his mother after his father passed away. He was a member of St Mary's Cathedral where he faithfully attended.

Randy loved traveling, especially with his cousins. He took many trips domestic and abroad, and the many sites of time gone by enriched his life long love of history. Randy was a dog lover, especially his beloved beagle, Daisy Mae. He always mentioned that he did not need a wife when he had a beagle to run the show.

He loved reading, especially about historical people and places. He enjoyed drawing and painting and spent many hours walking his dog. Randy was an exceptionally kind, caring and compassionate person who saw a friend in everyone he met. He never complained and always had a positive outlook on life.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Mike and Greg.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Capital Humane Society.

The visitation, Rosary and Funeral Mass will all be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Greeley, Neb.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church

Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 1 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Greeley, Neb.
