Reuben Wong Obituary

REUBEN SUN FAI WONG 89, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on May 2, 2025. He had an exemplary legal career, distinguishing himself as the attorney of the renowned businessman and philanthropist, Harry Weinberg, for over 19 years. Inspired by Mr. Weinberg's legacy, Reuben generously supported many charities in Hawaii, through the Lin and Ella Wong Foundation, which he established in honor of his parents. He left a lasting legacy of leadership and service to the Chinese community in Hawaii, most notably as a President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. He had an especially strong affinity towards Iolani School, from which he graduated in 1954, and served on its Board of Governors for many years. His wife, Vera, predeceased him in 2016. Following her passing, Reuben contributed to Iolani School's Residence Hall program and K-1 Community, in her honor. He is survived by two sons: Delwyn (Marie) and Irwyn (Dawn); and five grandchildren: Madelyn, Dylan, Lily, Alexis, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by four siblings: Albert, Alton, Cynthia, and Norah. Public service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11am at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. Visitation at 10am. Family is invited to a private burial service at Manoa Chinese Cemetery following the service.
