Rhoda Dolan Obituary

RHODA MARGARET DOLAN Rhoda Margaret Dolan, age 86 passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 14, 2024. She leaves behind son, Danny and his wife Michelle of Honolulu and beloved grandsons, Jacob and Cameron of Honolulu. She also leaves behind daughter Teresa of California and beloved grandsons, Ryan of Washington and Sean of California. Rhoda was born in San Francisco, California, on July 11, 1938. Rhoda grew up in the Bay Area, mostly in San Francisco. In the late 50's early 60's she attended San Jose State University with a degree in History. She worked part time at her parents' clothing store Luana's on 4th Street in San Rafael as a bookkeeper in the 1960s and 1970s she worked for the County of Marin at the public health clinic as a receptionist. She moved to Hawaii in 1985 and began her social work career on the island of Kauai. Eventually she made her way to Oahu and to the State of Hawaii's Department of Human Services. In 1993 she became a case worker. Her department focused on children that had special health needs and provided support services to those children and their families. Rhoda retired from the State of Hawaii, DHS in 2004. After retirement Rhoda travelled the world with her husband Tom who she married in the year 2000. Rhoda loved to spend time with her grandkids and was very active with countless friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandma. She will be especially remembered for her sharp wit, clever sense of humor and fantastic travel stories. Tom and Rhoda found each other later in life and were married for over 24 years. They were a perfect match of steady, calm and vivacious charisma. They loved life and lived it to the fullest. They were fantastic grandparents, respected and loved parents and in-laws.
