Richard Arimizu Obituary

RICHARD HUME DICK ARIMIZU 79, passed away July 11, 2025. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii on December 10, 1945 to Dr. Richard and Millicent Hume Arimizu. Richard graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963, from the University of Hawaii in 1968 and became a CPCU. He began his long insurance career at Pacific Insurance and was a founder of UIIA, a local insurance company. Finally he was an independent agent with Insurance Associates. Richard was an extraordinary mentor taking many young people under his wing, providing them with the knowledge and expertise to have significant careers in the insurance world. He loved University of Hawaii Football with season tickets from the termite stadium to Aloha stadium days. He had a fun and fearless spirit, always ready to try something new. Skydiving, flying in a glider plane, sliding down bannisters, riding motorcycles, and his love of beautiful cars; owning the first 240Z in Hawaii, to a Corvette, his beloved Porsche 911 and finally his BMW. He loved to be near the water, the ocean, a canal-even a pool. He had to have it within view! He spent weekends at Kaimana Beach playing cards and later watching waves at China Walls in Portlock. He loved holidays, especially Thanksgiving when he and friends smoked turkeys for all to enjoy. Dick loved his wife, Raquel, daughter, Tylynne McCauley, stepdaughter, Vina Vanessa Vogt and extended family. He will be missed by so many friends and family. Private services to be held.
