I was saddened to learn of Rick´s death. We had been friends for over 50 years since our early years in medical school at Penn. Rick was a talented surgeon. He devised new techniques for clef palate surgery. One of his great joys was his many mission trips on which he worked his surgical magic on children with clef palates. He loved sharing the before and after pictures. He gave many children a new start in life. He also loved sending pictures of the vistas from the golf course and those with his children. He will be missed by many. My condolences to his children, Allie and Brian.

Rest in Peace Richard! I remember Richard and Pat back in the early days of Hawaii. I was at their Wedding. I was a roommate of Pat's cousin, Carol (Whittenberger) Loo and met them through her. Carol worked for Richard for a while taking before and after photos. I remember Richard as a very good, kind person.
