ROBERT BOB AND JANYTH JAN HUSIC After more than 70 years of marriage, Bob and Jan Husic passed peacefully a few months apart in their Oahu home in 2023. Following college, they had the option to go to Hawaii through Bob's Army Reserve service. They moved to Honolulu in 1955 and then moved to Ewa Beach in the early 1960s where they raised their children. They spread their love of the ocean and athletic endeavors in their new hometown. Both learned to surf in the late 1950s and Jan caught her last wave in Waikiki in the early 2000s. In the 1960s, Jan served as highly regarded advisor to the Ewa Beach Surf Club, where they both made a positive impact on the lives of aspiring surfers in the 1960s and 1970s. During those years, Jan was also very involved in the Hawaii Surfing Association (HSA) and Save Our Surf (SOS) campaign. Later in life, she and Bob took up tennis. Bob, always in "perpetual training," especially loved track and field and throwing the discus. In his younger years, he held a Hawaii discus record for several decades and competed in track and field nationally as he aged. They are survived by their daughter, Terri O'Connell, and their beloved Ewa Beach Hawaii Ohana. Private services to be held. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Cemetery & Crematory
