ROBERT LUCK Obituary

ROBERT W. LUCK Robert William Luck, 76, a loving husband, father and grandfather died peacefully September 23 surrounded by family at his Portland, Oregon home. Luck embodied the spirit of aloha. His quiet kindness and humility were contagious. A deeply spiritual and empathetic person, Luck touched thousands of lives through four decades of social work, palliative care, counseling and victim advocacy across Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. Born April 2, 1947, in Honolulu, Luck was the son of entertainer "Lucky Luck" (Robert M. Luck) and Ruth Kennison, who together with his brothers William and Frederick, predeceased him. A former University of Hawaii football player and Punahou alum, Luck maintained Hawaii ties even after moving to the Pacific Northwest by hula dancing, performing oral stories and writing a novel set in Honolulu. He is survived by his wife Ellen M. Garcia and their children Daniel Luck, Julia Luck and Marissa Mejia-Luck and three grandchildren. Private services are planned in Honolulu in late November. Loved ones can sign a guestbook at Legacy.com and donate to National Park Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Rob was an impressive and kind man. It´s so difficult to know he is gone. Gone physically but definitely not in wonderful memories. He will be missed!

I worked with Rob at the Honolulu prosecutor´s office. Rob was a kind and compassionate individual and social worker. He taught me many principles of our profession. May he rest in peace. My blessings to his family.
