Rodney Gardine Obituary

RODNEY LOUIS GARDINE Rodney Gardine, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on August 18, 1956, and passed away on September 9, 2025. He is survived by his father, Orval Gardine; his sister, Susan (John) Manzella; and his niece and nephews: Thomas Edenburn, Angelina (Adam) Strobel, Joseph Manzella and Alex Manzella. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Ham (York); his grandparents, Louis & Ethel Gardine (Rice), and Woodrow & Madeline York (Matlock). Their memory remained close to his heart throughout his life. Rodney is a graduate of St. Charles High School and began his career at the St. Charles Journal in Missouri as a typesetter, where his love for graphic design first took shape. He briefly lived in San Francisco, California, before moving to Hawaii, where he found both his home and his life's calling over 40 years ago. Rodney worked as Graphic Artist and Designer with Honolulu Publishing, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and artistry that touched many. He retired from Honolulu Publishing a few years ago. He embraced Hawaiian living and culture wholeheartedly. The warmth, kindness, and spirit of aloha shaped the way he lived and the way he treated others. He built a wide and loving circle of friends, along with his family, who will remember him for his easygoing nature, sense of humor and generous heart. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love. A private remembrance will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements Provided By: Aloha Mortuary
