Ronald Ongie Obituary

RONALD R. ONGIE Ronald R. Ongie, 84, died at home on Friday, December 13, 2024. Born on Kauai, he grew up in Whitmore Village and attended Leilehua High before going to UH-Manoa on scholarship. There he met the love of his life, Angelita and they were happily married for over 61 years. A City & County of Honolulu building inspector for over 33 years, Ron loved to spend his spare time golfing. A member of the Senior Rejects Golf Club, his greatest achievement in golf was having the distinction of getting NINE hole-in-ones in his lifetime. Preceded in death by siblings Carol Santiago, Frances Gombio and Roy Ongie, Ron is survived by wife, Angelita; sons Ross and Ryan (Sandra); daughter Janna Ongie Sye; grandchildren Roydan Ongie (Haoting), Charisse Ongie-Cha (Calvin), Alexia Kihano-Yoshimura (Vance), and Jansen Sye; 5 great- grandchildren; brother David Ongie (Doug Shelton). A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Park- Mauka Chapel. Visitation 5:30 pm, program 6:30 pm. Casual attire. No flowers, please.
