Ronald Yee Obituary

RONALD W.K. YEE 78, of Nu'uanu, passed away on February 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Known to many as either Ron, Ronnie, or Mr. Yee, he was born on April 12, 1946, in Honolulu to Samuel and Doris Yee. Ron was raised in Nu'uanu alongside his older siblings, sister, Judy, and brother, Geison. A proud graduate of Punahou School's Class of 1964, he continued his education at Williams College, earning his degree in 1968. Excelling in academics, he continued to Harvard Law School, earning his Juris Doctor in 1971. Ron went on to establish a successful law practice alongside his childhood friend, Gordon J. Mau, where they practiced law for over 30 years. Even after retirement, his dedication to the law persisted, as he continued to review legal documents for one particularly persistent client - his daughter. Ron was a true audiophile, always in search of the perfect listening experience. His love of music often filled his home (and likely his neighbors' as well) as he enthusiastically tested new equipment. Sundays were for golf, and Fridays for lunch - always with his Punahou classmates, his forever friends. Even when he missed one such Friday gathering early this January, his quick wit remained. After one of his friends texted to tell him "the gang" missed him at lunch, he replied, "I missed you way more than you missed me! - Ronnie." Perhaps nothing rivaled his passion for University of Hawai'i Men's Basketball. A devoted supporter for over 50 years, he was a fixture at games, practices, and even road trips, traveling with the team to places as far as Australia and Japan. Ron is survived by his wife, Marsha, whom he married in 1976 after wooing her by taking her on dates to the softball field where he played in a lawyer's league; son, Damon (Anna); daughter, Jana; and beloved grandchildren; grandson Lyon, and granddaughters, Aili, and Bodhi.
