Rose Reed Obituary

ROSE MASAKO REED Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Rose Masako Reed passed away February 14th, 2024. Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Rose was the first born to Frank and Masako Rizzo. She attended International School of the Sacred Heart where she made lifelong friends before moving to Rhode Island, where she attended university and was surrounded by loving family. She and husband John Reed lived together in Honolulu, HI for over 30 years, developing a wonderful community of friends that became family. Rose was the most caring, thoughtful, and selfless person you could ever meet. She found joy and purpose in caring for others, working tirelessly to raise her children and care for her parents, husband, grandchildren, and countless friends. Rose was steadfast in her devotion in service to others, never accepting acknowledgement or thanks for all that she did for so many. Rose was the most beautiful person both inside and out and will be so deeply missed by those who knew and cared for her. Survived by spouse John Reed, children Christina (Evan) Killips, Kevin (Diane) Reed, Rachelle Reed, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and brother Anthony (Yaeko) Rizzo. Dearest Family & Friends- I extend my deepest condolences to all of you on the loss of your angel, Rose. My memories of our wonderful cousin extend over 6 decades from when she and her brother Tony first visited our New England family. She was 10, and immediately became the focus of our fascination. Our years growing up together, through camping trips, college, grand parties & weddings make up a huge part of my history. Like me, I´m fairly certain that everyone who ever was fortunate enough to meet Rose was instantly taken by her kindness, caring & gracious beauty, along with her infectious laugh. She was selfless to a fault, always tending to everyone else´s needs before her own. Self-care was not a term Rose was familiar with. Her passing surely leaves a tremendous void in the lives of her adored children, grand children and loved ones Small consolation that it is, we can be sure Heaven´s made a little brighter with Rosie´s radiant smile. May your beautiful spirit soar with the angels, darling Rose. We will love you forever. Cousin Anita Sammartino
