Ruth Terada Obituary

RUTH ASANO TERADA Ruth Asano Terada passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones, on November 10, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1929 in Hilo, HI. A woman ahead of her time, she attended the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and received her Bachelor's Degree in Music. Returning to Hawaii with her family in 1961, Ruth enjoyed loving and caring for her four children. Incredibly gentle and nurturing, she worked as a music teacher and school nurse at Waiokeola Preschool. During that time she opened her own piano studio in Kaimuki where she taught many students for nearly 50 years. Everyone Ruth touched felt her genuine kindness, warmth, and patience. She inspired countless students with her gentle encouragement and bright smile, building their confidence with piano recitals and making a lasting impact on their lives. Affectionately known as "Ma" to her hanai family, she shared her unconditional love, support, and generosity with everyone. Her greatest love was to be with her children and grandchildren and was her motivation to live happily for 95 years. She is survived by her children, Kathy, Carolyn Neidenberg (Marc), Paul (Katherine), Alan (Jodi), grandchildren Lopaka, Noa, Sara, Sean (Chaz), Kira, Shane, Kaylee (Eric), Rie (Cayman), Tanner, great grandchildren Hideo, Mei, Kenzo, Emi and 8 grand-doggies. No service per her request, private scattering of ashes at a later date, no koden. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
