SCOTT KENICHI KAI Scott Kenichi Kai passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Honolulu, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 13, 1965, in Honoluluwhere he both began and ended his journeyScott most recently made his home in Reno, Nevada after living in California for over 20 years. A highly respected Sr. Solutions Architect in cybersecurity, Scott could often be found engrossed in a video game, carefully assembling a model, or diving into a topic that sparked his inquisitive mind. He had a special interest in guns, precision mechanics, and Formula One racing. Scott will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and Ipo, his dog. He is survived by his devoted mother, Jean Weaver (wife of Mark Watanabe), and his sisters, Allyson Kai and Tori Cole. He was part of a close-knit family of 5, and his memory is held lovingly alongside that of his late sister, Kathy Kai, and brother, Dwaine Kai. A service open to all friends and loved ones will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary (30 N Kukui St, Honolulu, HI 96817) on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation at 5:00 p.m. A reception with refreshments will follow.
