Stanley Hashiro Obituary

STANLEY HIDEO HASHIRO Stanley Hashiro, 92, of Honolulu left to be with his wife Mary on July 24, 2024. He was an accountant and controller for a number of local firms and retired from Austin, Tsutsumi and Associates. In his retirement, he traveled with Mary to Europe and Asia. He enjoyed keeping up the landscape around his home, spending time with the grandchildren, playing harmonica and performing recitals with a group of senior citizens called the Small World Harmonica Band. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Stanley was very proud of his service and those of others for defending and winning the freedom of the people of South Korea. He served in the Headquarter Company of the Third Division. As a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Stanley attended many events representing the Honolulu chapter, including visiting Korea and the DMZ twice with other veterans at the invitation of the Korean government. He was very appreciative of the continuing gratitude expressed by the Korean people for winning their freedom and for the support of the Korean war veterans by the South Korean government and the Korean Consulate. He was impressed by the modern city and the life that arose from the debris, ashes and destruction that he remembered in 1953. He is survived by his sons Ronald and Gary (Kim), two grandchildren, and brothers and sisters Alice, Edward, Glenn, Judy and Lillian, nieces and nephews and cousins. Private Services were held.
