STEPHEN PAULOS Obituary

STEPHEN PAULOS Stephen Paulos joined his son Shane Paulos in heaven on May 06, 2025, where he passed away peacefully at his home in Hilo, Hawaii. Born on October 28th 1942, Stephen grew up in Hilo as a car enthusiast. After high school, he left for California and joined the Navy where he served our Country for 2 years. It was there where he met and married Mary Ann. They came back to Hilo in 1972 and have been here ever since. He was well known in Kona and Hilo and a frequent racer down at the Hilo race track with his car Showdown that ruled in the eighties. He maintained that love of fast cars throughout the entirety of his life. He was a welder by trade starting off at Hilo Ironworks, moving on to Caterpillar and then finally creating his own company, Akolea Heavy Equipment Welding. After retirement Stephen did what he loved by continuing to race fast cars and maintaining his immaculate yard. Stephen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; his daughter Marlaina (Craig) Fujisawa and their children Kellen and Taylor; his daughter Christy and her children Alexa and Zachary; his son Ryan (Monica) and their children, Dylan, Kainoa and Mila; and his sister Kathleen (Frank) Luiz and their children Jason and Jennifer.
