Stephen Timberlake Obituary

STEPHEN LEWIS TIMBERLAKE Passed away in Honolulu, HI on May 28, 2024. He was born in Menlo Park, CA on November 4, 1950 to Lewis and Cynthia Timberlake. Steve graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Alexandria Virginia, and later continued his education at University of Arizona and Hawaii Pacific University. He served in the US Navy as a radioman in Yokosuka Japan, and later worked on Kwajalein Atoll for a DOD contractor. After returning to Honolulu he worked for The Honolulu Club as the data processing manager and multiple other local companies specializing in information systems. In his later years he became his mother's devoted caregiver. Steve was an avid reader and enjoyed deep conversations regarding local and national politics. He would write op-ed pieces for the local paper, and even a one-time spot on the local news. Being that he was a staunch Democrat and supporter of civil rights, he loved a good debate on those subjects. He had multiple blogs, including a Dodgers' blog. As he engaged with folks on these sites he garnered lifelong friends. Steve truly appreciated the interaction and connection with his friends from around the world. His wit and humor, along with his kindness and good nature will be missed. He is survived by his sister Phyllis Lynn Villafana (Eugene), nieces Melissa Namba (Bryan), Melanie Villafana, grand nephew Bradley Namba, and grand niece Brianna Namba, including his beloved cousins & extended family. Services will be held at National Memorial of the Pacific at Punchbowl in early September 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hawaii Public Radio in his name.
