My husband and l met Sterling in 2008. You can imagine our surprise when we told him we were from Smithfield IL and he said he knew exactly where that was. It´s 25 miles west of Macomb IL. He was amazing. Our trip to Hawaii was to visit the Memorial. We feel blessed to have met him. RIP Sailor.
