SYLVIA PAO KRUSE Sylvia Kruse, 83, of Kailua. Born to Joe and Evelyn Pao on 8/16/40. Beloved Mother and Grandmother, she passed away February 13, 2024. She was a Proud active Booster and Supporter of UH Athletics for many years, especially Basketball. Owner of Yarn and Needlecrafts/Strictly Christmas in Kailua. In the past she also owned The Cookery, Mr. Fashions and P.S. Boutique. Her store became a gathering place for many kupuna who sat around knitting, stitching and weaving but mostly talking story about the good ole days. In later years, she was known as "the parking lot nazi" for diligently stopping non customer's from parking in her business' parking lot. A Steadfast anti masker, she never wore a mask during the Covid pandemic but went to work every day, eventually catching covid but beat it like a trooper. Preceded in death by husband Howard Kruse, she is survived by Sisters Gail Berengue, Karen Edwards, daughters Kathy (Henry) Huihui, Kalei Kimhan, son's Puhi (Kim), Joe (Rita), Steve (Nina) and Pat (Eryl) Adams, Howard (Josie) and John (Joannie) Kruse, Hanai Son Garland (Dana) Hughes, 34 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandchild. Services at St. John Vianney Church, Kailua; Saturday, April 6. Visitation: 9:30am, Mass: 11am, Burial at 1pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of life party at her home.
