TAMATERU KODAMA Obituary

TAMATERU TAMA KODAMA 94, of Aiea, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tama grew up in Paia, Maui and attended Maui High School. Shortly after completing his civil engineering degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, he married Sunao "Sandy" Okumura. Together, they were blessed with a large and loving family. They raised six children in a home where gatherings of family and friends were always welcomed. Tama was preceded to heaven by Sandy, who passed away on October 4, 2008 after 56 years of marriage. He will be especially missed by sons; Dennis (Wendy), Scott (Terri), Dave (Lori), Hugh (Brenda), Gregg (Be-Jay), and daughter, Diane along with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren whom he spent countless hours supporting their athletic, music, and academic interests. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Tama's physicians and primary caregivers, Rowena and Jesrel, for their compassionate care that allowed Tama to live peacefully in the comfort of his home. A private Celebration of Life was held at Makiki Christian Church with his immediate family in attendance. Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to our extended family and friends for their support and prayers. No gifts or koden please.
