Victoria Kobayashi Obituary

VICTORIA T. KOBAYASHI Victoria T. Kobayashi (Vicky) died on August 16, 2024 at the age of 105. Vicky was born on November 20, 1918 at the Volcano House on the Big Island, the second of four daughters of Estelle Goo and James Tsuchiya. Vicky attended a country schoolhouse, then Mid-Pacific School in Honolulu, graduated from Hilo High School, and majored in art at University of Hawaii. After UH graduation, Vicky married Bert T. Kobayashi, Sr. They raised four children in Honolulu, with Vicky maintaining the family home allowing Bert to pursue his law career wholeheartedly. Through the years, Vicky expressed her artistic talents in various media including ceramics, quilting and other needle work, paper crafts, block printing, Chinese painting, Sumi-e, and batik, and was known for her original designed Christmas cards. In retirement, Vicky and Bert enjoyed snorkeling, hiking, traveling, and caring for grandchildren. Vicky is predeceased by her husband, Bert, and daughter, Victoria P. Kobayashi; and is survived by three children, Bert T. Kobayashi, Jr. (Harriet), Josephine L. Chang, and Lincoln K. Kobayashi (Terry), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren. If desired, donations might be made to Hale Malamalama Nursing Home, 6063 Summer St., Hon., HI 96821. A memorial will be private. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
