WAYNE IMANAKA Obituary

To Patsy & Wayne's family - I used to play baseball for the Vikings with Wayne. The last time I met with Wayne was in 1958 in Washington DC. Over the years he would call me or I would call him. One thing I remember about Wayne he beat me in "chug a log" a bottle of coke.

To the family of Mr. Imanaka, I am very sorry for your loss. My dad, Roy Yonemori, was a good friend of his as they grew up together. I remember my dad telling my sister, brother, and me, about his good friend, Wayne. Later, when my dad was retired and would take trips to the mainland, he always made a point of seeing Mr. Imanaka. After my dad passed away almost 10 years ago, Mr. Imanaka continued to exchange Christmas cards with my mom, Kay Yonemori. Every year he would send my mom dried persimmons because she loved them so much. My mom knew Mr. Imanaka too because they were classmates in high school and at UH Hilo. Both of my parents said that Mr. Imanaka was a very nice man. I just wanted to share with you that Mr. Imanaka was thought about so fondly by my parents, who always said he was such a nice man.
