WAYNE LUM Obituary

Remembering DR. WAYNE Y.H. LUM Dr. Wayne Yet Hung Lum, 76, a dedicated physician, passed away on March 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Queen's Medical Center. Wayne attended the University of Hawai'i Lab School and graduated from Punahou School, Stanford University, and Temple Medical School. After completing his residency at Harrisburg Hospital in Pennsylvania, he opened his office at St. Francis Medical Center, where he practiced Internal Medicine for 45 years. In addition to private practice, Dr. Lum served as medical director of Kalihi Palama Walk-in Clinic, staff physician for the YMCA Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, and Internal Medicine consultant for the State of Hawaii's Developmental Division. Wayne enjoyed art and history, playing the piano, tennis, and golf. He loved to read, travel, attend concerts, watch films, and share his vast music collection of CDs, DVDs, and vinyl albums. However, his 30-year role as a proud member of the "Dancing Docs," a group of physicians who bring joy to hundreds of patients and staff through their local performances, truly expressed his love for others. His lasting legacy will be his kindness, compassion, and devotion to his patients, friends, and family. Dr. Lum is survived by sisters Lynnette Hew (Edward) and Bev Lum-Chow (Walter), brothers Carlton and Edward "Woody" Lum, and 8 nephews, 7 nieces, 4 grandnephews and 5 grandnieces. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Community Church of Honolulu, 2345 Nuuanu Avenue, on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Aloha attire. Open visitation at 10 a.m., with services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palolo Chinese Home or REHAB Foundation in memory of Dr. Wayne Y. H. Lum. The family especially thanks Dr. Kuo-Chiang Lian and the team of doctors, colleagues, and staff at Queen's Medical Center for their care and support.
