Wendell De Freitas Obituary

WENDELL RONALD DE FREITAS Dad was born November 8, 1937 and passed away peacefully May 31, 2023 at the age of 85 in Honolulu.He was a graduate of The Kamehameha Schools, class of "55. His first job was with the Honolulu Board of water supply as a pipe fitter. Dads career took him to the US Navy, and as a member of the Seabee's Battalion, he served 2 years in Viet Nam. His final career was with the Honolulu Fire Department where he later tested and became an Engineer/Operator. After 27 years with the HFD, he retired in 1990, and he and Joanna transitioned to the Island of Molokai, An avid waterman, dad Paddled with various canoe clubs in the State, including crewing with the Ocean voyaging Sailing canoe, Makali'i. Dad was Na Kane Kupaiaha, (an Amazing Man), a devout husband, loving father, kind and generous to all he knew. He leaves, his wife Joanna De Freitas, Children Donna Pomaikai (Kaipo), Wendy Renee, Kandy De Freitas (Mariko), Robb Kawahakui (Marelyn), and Malia Posiulai (Steve); 10 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great- Great-Grandchildren.
