WILLIAM LUNN Obituary

WILLIAM THOMAS LUNN 94, of Waipake, Kaua'i, formerly of Ka'a'awa, O'ahu, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 28, 2023. Born and raised in Nocona, Texas, he was the only child of Weldon and Luella Lunn. After living through the great depression he graduated from Nocona High School and East Texas State Teachers College. He joined the army to see the world until landing in Hawai'i in 1958. He would meet the love of his life Haunani while teaching at Nui Valley Intermediate. He had an extensive career as a industrial arts teacher at Kahuku High School. With his trademark laugh and humble demeanor he became well respected and loved by his students & coworkers. Upon retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, helping others with projects & repairs and spending time talking story with friends and family. Eventually in 2003 they moved to Kaua'i to build their forever home and begin farming. Survived by his wife Haunani of 63 years, children Pono (Danene) & Oli (Kathleen), 3 grandsons & 6 great-grandchildren. A celebration will be held on Sunday May 21, 2023 10am-2pm at Le Jardin Academy, Wang Auditorium, 917 Kalaniana'ole Hwy., Kailua, O'ahu.
