WOODROW AH-KAWAI KAMOHOALI'I YOUNG Woodrow Ah-kawai Kamohoali'i Young, 85, of Waimea, Hawaii died February 10, 2023 at his home in Kuhio Village. He was born on Sept 27, 1937 to Peter Naiwi and Louise Kaina Young and raised by his grand-aunt Minnie Kamohoalii. Woodrow descends from a prominent Hawaiian family and is a direct descendant of King Kamehameha through his maternal lineage. He is a descendant of the famous Mahi Clan, the Kohala chiefs and the Kauauanuiamahi dynasty. His father's chiefly Kamohoalii family hail from Waipi'o Valley and Waimea. He was a well-known falsetto singer and musician that enjoyed life, kanikapila, and had a kind gentle heart that loved everyone he met, a true kanaka of aloha. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by wife Erlinda Fernandez Young, daughters Tricia Kainoa Hodson (Mike), Roberta Akim-Seu Banks and son Kenneth "Braddah" Akim-Seu. Brother Wardell Lani Young, sister-in-law Beverly Ann Young, brother-in-law Jacinth Deluz; 42 grandchildren, 41 great-grand- children and many great greats. Celebration of Life will be on Friday Night at 6 pm, Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, viewing from 9:00 to 11:30, service following at Kuhio Hale in Waimea, 64-756 Mamalahoa Hwy with burial to follow.
