YURIE UECHI TAKAI 95, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025. Born on July 29, 1929, in Kohala, Hawaii to Rohei and Tsuru Uechi. She was a waitress at Kenny's Restaurant for 42 years, from its inception in 1965. A devoted UH sports fan, she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and was a member of Lanakila Senior Center and Yomitan Okinawan Club. Her sense of humor, impeccable style, and easygoing nature brought laughter and smiles to all who knew her. More than anything, Yurie cherished her family. She is survived by her sons, Rodney Takai and Lance (Judi) Takai; daughter, Liane (Dean) Kaneshiro; grandchildren, Kellen (Dyan) Kaneshiro, Ashley (Trent) Kyono, Brenden (Nari) Takai, Shannon (Royce) Murai, Lauren (Tyler) Matas; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Yamashita; and numerous nieces and nephews. Yurie will be reunited with her husband George Koichi Takai of 58 years in their final resting place at Punchbowl. A Celebration of Life Service was held on 7/6/25. A life full of love and a life well lived. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
