On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Heaven gained a beautiful soul, as Ronald Lee Hall peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal rest. While our hearts are heavy with his departure, we rejoice in the legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty he leaves behind. Born in
Louisville, Kentucky, on October 24, 1946, Ronald was raised in the West End and attended Central High School. On March 4, 1967, Ronald married the love of his life, Jacqueline Yarbrough-Hall. This was the beginning of what would become a beautiful, devoted 58-year journey of marriage, friendship, and faith - with four beloved daughters. Ronald proudly retired from Louisville Gas & Electric after 43 years of dedicated service. He was a well-respected colleague, known for his quiet strength, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to providing for his family. A man of deep service, Ronald believed in giving back. While at LG&E, he frequently volunteered for community initiatives, including painting projects at the Home of the Innocents, often bringing his daughter along to instill the same values. At Genesis United Methodist Church, he served faithfully as the event photographer, capturing cherished moments and memories. He also drove the Vacation Bible School van, ensuring children in the community arrived safely and with a smile each day. Ronald also dedicated eight years to the Black Mudd Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter, where he was once honored as Outstanding Fireman of the Year. His firefighter family gave him the nickname "Black Mudd," a name he wore with pride. He was also a man of the land. His love for nature and sport shaped his hobbies. Ronald was both a hunter and a gatherer at heart, often returning home with a deer, a rabbit, or a bucket of fish for dinner. He found peace in the woods and joy in the rhythm of the seasons. At home, he could often be found chopping wood for the winter fireplace or tending to outdoor tasks with quiet pride. Ronald cherished time with family and friends. His home was often the center of laughter and competition. He loved hosting, whether it was a grilled meal in the backyard or an informal spades tournament that stretched late into the night. From quiet backgammon and chess battles to spirited storytelling around the kitchen table, Ronald found joy in the simple pleasures of life: fellowship, tradition, and the satisfaction of a day well spent. Ronald Lee Hall's story is not one of sorrow, but one of triumph: a life well lived, well loved, and well remembered. As his family and friends gather to celebrate him, we encourage you not to mourn his passing, but to dance like he would have, laugh like he always did, and keep your hand in God's hand just like he told us to. He loved his Bates Memorial Baptist Church family, and even on his sickbed, he gave - never missing his tithe, never missing his faith. He was the proud father of four daughters: Ronnette Hall-Combs, Erica Miller, Eronica Dew (Brett), and Brooke Gladden (Albert). He was also affectionately known as "Grandfather" to 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved identical twin brother, Donald Lee Hall, his mother Rosetta Herring, and his "other mom" Bobbie Jean Yarbrough-Edwards. A host of nieces, nephews, brother/sister-in-laws, and cousins will miss him. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 10am - 12 noon at Bates Memorial Baptist Church, 620 Lampton St. with the funeral services to follow at 12 noon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
