We are saddened to announce the passing of Vickie "Momma" Hernandez, who left us on November 21, 2024, at the age of 73. She was born on October 6, 1951, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Hazel (White) Sasser and Barney Sasser. Vickie was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother.
She met the love of her life, Jose Hernandez, in 1974 in Silsbee, Texas. Their connection was instant, and just one year later, they married, beginning a life together. They built on a foundation of love, mutual respect, and partnership. Together, they created a home full of warmth and support for their children Carmen and Victor.
As a homemaker, she dedicated herself to her family, creating a nurturing and loving environment. Vickie was a confident, mentor, and a steady source of wisdom for anyone that needed a listening ear.
Vickie's culinary skills were legendary. She was a gifted cook who made her home a place where love was served in every dish. Her meals reflected her care and devotion to her loved ones with attributes and talents as a gifted baker, creating homemade treats that brought comfort and joy to everyone that tasted them. Beyond the kitchen, she was an artist at heart, finding joy in crafting, decorating, and expressing herself through her art.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jose Hernandez; daughter, Carmen Hernandez and son, Victor Hernandez and wife Cecilia Salazar-Hernandez. She was a proud grandmother to Angel Hernandez, Santos Hernandez, Carlito Hernandez, and Gabriela Hernandez and numerous other family members and friends who loved and cherished her deeply.
Her legacy of love, creativity, and the joy she brought into the lives of those closest to her will live on forever in our hearts.
