Akihiko Sinoto Obituary

AKIHIKO AKI SINOTO Akihiko "Aki" Sinoto, 75, of Honolulu, Hawai'i, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. Born in 1950 in Chiba, Japan, to Dr. Yosihiko Sinoto and Kazuko (Sato). Aki moved to Honolulu with his family in 1957. Hawai'i became their lifelong home. Aki graduated from Punahou School in 1969 and earned his degree from the University of Hawai'i in 1973. A respected archaeologist and cultural resource specialist, Aki worked 21 years at the Bishop Museum before founding Aki Sinoto Consulting. Later in his life, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and faithfully served with his wife and friends in the Waikiki and Maunalua Bay Hawai'i Pidgin Congregations. He is survived by wife, Lucindy Sinoto; sons, Luke Kaneko, Laurent (Brandy) Sinoto, and Leigh Sinoto; and extended family in Hawai'i and Japan. Memorial services will be held March 21, 2026, at Atherton Halau, Bishop Museum. Visitation at 10 a.m.; service at 11:30 a.m.; luncheon to follow. Zoom ID: 2095808067.
