ANDRES ALBANO, JR. With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Andres Albano, Jr., on March 28, 2023, at the age of 81. Born in Wahiawa, Oahu, Andres was a loving husband, devoted father, faithful friend and loyal son and sibling. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit and was always willing to support and guide others in their endeavors. His greatest joy was time spent with family, playing tennis, traveling the world with his wife, and enjoying family dinners outside on his garden lanai. He passed peacefully and was surrounded at his bedside with love, music and prayer by his wife, Sandra, and daughters Cheryl Nathanson and Denise Albano. He is survived by his son-in-law, Dr. Andrew Nathanson, and his beloved grandson, Nainoa Nathanson. He is also survived by his mother, Florence Albano, and four siblings, James, Roland, Robert and Mary. He was predeceased by his father, Andres Sr., and his sister Geraldine. A consummate real estate investment professional, Andres was Senior Vice President of CBRE, where he worked since 1997, and focused on Capital Markets investment services. He was described by a fellow CBRE executive as a "local real estate legend who was the best human being. I didn't know anyone who lived a fuller life." Prior to this, Andres was Executive VP of Mid-Pacific Development Ltd. and President of M&M Contracting Co. He also served as Principal Broker of the General Growth Properties in Hawaii, operator of Ala Moana Shopping Center. Prior to working in real estate, Andres started his career as a Nuclear Power Engineer for Naval Reactors at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. Subsequently, he worked as an Electrical Engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration. He also served as an electrical engineer for the Honolulu Board of Water Supply. Supporting his belief in the power of education, he formerly served as Vice Chairman of the University of Hawaii Board of Regents, where he was former Chairman of several committees, including the Task Group on Public/Private Partnerships; Finance and Facilities; and the Board of Directors for the Research Corporation. He was formerly Vice President of the Hawaii Developers Council and the Development Association of Hawaii. Andres was a long-time congregant of Holy Trinity Church. Andres held a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Hawaii. He will be missed immensely. Burial services will be private.
