Ann Gima Obituary

ANN CHIEMI GIMA Ann Chiemi Gima (Kagawa) was born January 29, 1960 in Honolulu, and passed away on December 25, 2024 at Palolo Chinese Home. Ann worked for the City & County of Honolulu for over 30 years. Her fondest memories was working as a Real Property Appraiser and working her way up to become the Real Property Technical Officer. Ann's attention to detail enabled her to assist the Divisions Administrator in various court cases testifying on behalf of the Real Property Division, and on occasion be the City & County of Honolulu's representative at the Legislature and City Council. She was highly respected among Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii counties Real Property Divisions. Ann met Harry at an HGEA convention in May of 1998, although neither of them were "looking" at the time, fast forward, they married in November of that year. Ann enjoyed partying and dancing with her husband and friends at the 70's Nightclub Reunions, always in a 70's disco outfit. Ann also liked to dress up for Halloween. Ann's life was a testament to the power of unconditional love to family and friends. Her warmth, sense of humor, generosity, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Her current passion was fostering neglected, abused and traumatized kittens. She nurtured them to adapt to humans again and to be loved into a loving home and family. Ann was a loving wife and mother. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, strength, and resilience that will be cherished by her family and friends for years to come. Ann was a devoted wife to Harry for 26 years. Together they created a loving family that embodies her nurturing spirit. She is survived by sons Shane and Kobi. She is also survived by her mother Frances Kagawa, step-mother Suzanne Kagawa, step-son Brandon (Hellen) Gima, brother Clifford (Helen) Kagawa and niece Taryn. We met Ann thru my cousin so I consider her as family. My memory of her was of family holiday gatherings where we would meet early at the my cousins house to help set up tables, chairs, game prizes and food which would give us a chance to talk and catch up, also tell funny stories. Ann always looked great with a fresh new hairstyle when we see her. We will miss you, Ann! Our love and prayers to Harry and her family.

I remember looking forward to going to Home Econ Class at Kalani so I can cook together with Ann. She had such a positive, cheerful disposition and she made our team so enjoyable! May you rest in eternal happiness! Love you, Ann!

I remember meeting Ann and Harry through friends Sharon and Daryl Matsuo. We enjoyed Christmas dinners together at Wolfgang;s Steak House. My prayers go out to the Gima and Kagawa families.
