BROCK STANLEY Obituary

BROCK STANLEY Brock Stanley, much loved friend, son and brother, who would have celebrated his 70th birthday this year, peacefully passed away on March 30, 2022. The son of Duffy and Irene Stanley, Brock followed in his father's footsteps to become an architect, studying at Texas A&M University and graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Hawaii. Brock founded his own consulting company, CADD Architects after working for various firms and later in life worked for the State of Hawaii, retiring in 2019. Brock loved his adopted home of Hawaii and Hawaiian culture and was passionate about native Hawaiian plants. He was known for the lush garden spaces he developed wherever he lived. He worked in restaurants before embarking on his career in architecture and many of Brock's friends remember him as a teammate at the Hyatt Hotel in Waikiki. Brock was a leader and a tough taskmaster who took new team members under his wing. His sharp wit and quips delighted and were appreciated by those who knew him. Brock was a loyal and wise friend that you could count on and those who knew him deeply formed his extended Ohana, which is Hawaiian for family. Brock is greatly missed. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses Sheila and Richard Hills, Lars and Lauren Stanley, Sonya and Kirk Howeth and Sharon and Fred Moreno, and their children. The family asks that those who would like to acknowledge Brock's memory make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.

I was sorry to learn of Brock's passing. We worked together in Los Angeles and became good friends. He would come by on weekends in that old Mercedes and we would be off to spend another day at Venice Beach. We did lose touch over the years but I can still hear that soft spoken sense of humor in my head.
