DENIS LEONG Obituary

DENIS C. H. LEONG Denis Chunn Hung Leong, 81, passed away surrounded by his family on February 22, 2023. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Sun and Irene Leong. Denis attended Punahou School, Oregon State University, and George Washington University School of Law. After a few years of public service, he joined the law firm now known as Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert. Denis was respected in the legal community for his astute knowledge and compassion. He remained an active partner in the law firm even in retirement. Denis was a member of Waialae Country Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends. Denis' historical knowledge, his thoughtful decisions, and his willingness to make changes helped to transform WCC into the family friendly place it is today. Denis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diantha "Cookie" Lam, daughter Tishya Anne Wren (Jon), sons Evan (Kari) and Darin (Lisa), 8 grandchildren and siblings Cornelia Sandborn and Chris Leong. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Galen and Alexander. Denis was most proud of his family. He was devoted to his family and friends. As his final wish, Denis donated his body to John A. Burns School of Medicine to help further medical research. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at The Community Church of Honolulu. Visitation 9:30 AM. Service 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers or leis, a donation in memory of Denis may be made to a charity of your choice or to The Community Church of Honolulu or to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA.
