Eugene Ichinose Obituary

EUGENE TAKEO ICHINOSE, JR. EUGENE TAKEO ICHINOSE, JR. left us on December 15, 2024, at home and attended by close family members. "Ichi", or "Junior", as he was known to family and friends throughout his life, was the eldest son, born on November 27, 1932. He was the Head of our Family ever since his mother Harriet passed on in 1996 and his father Eugene Sr. came to live with him and his family. He always took his responsibilities seriously, working hard throughout his life, but he also loved to play. He was a natural all-around athlete with a passion for swimming. He swam with a group of talented swimmers at the YMCA and the Natatorium in the 1940's. He graduated from Punahou in 1950 and from Univ of Pennsylvania Wharton School in 1954., where he met and fell in love with his wife Beatrice Sugiyama. He enlisted in the Air Force and he and Bea went on to have 4 children. After the Air Force he started his own Financial Planning and Services company E.T. Ichinose LTD and then Wespac Hawaii Financial Corp. He was one of the first businesses to provide all-around financial services including planning, investing, insurance and tax services. He continued to run his own financial business until he retired a few years ago. After retiring, he remained determined to keep busy and independent. The covid lockdown took its toll on his health and lifestyle, yet he managed to keep going to his 92nd birthday shortly after which he passed on peacefully while being cared for at home by his family. He leaves behind his children Lori Teixeira (Randy), Wendi Ichinose (Tracy Morgan), Eugene T. Ichinose III (Tina), Terri Ichinose; friend Betsy Hamura; siblings Susan M. Ichinose (Martin Plotnick, dec'd), David Ichinose (Susan R); and many nephews, nieces and step-grandchildren. The family will be holding a private service. No flowers or koden please. A hui hou.
