FLORENCIA RANCHEZ Obituary

FLORENCIA ACZON RANCHEZ Florencia Aczon Ranchez passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, where she got her elementary and secondary education and graduated as Valedictorian. She pursued her college career in education at Northern Luzon Teachers College, where she graduated as the top graduate. She then got her master's degree in education. She started her teaching career in the elementary department of the same college. She taught at Bacarra Elementary School for several years and became a guidance coordinator & head teacher. Florencia and her family moved to Hawaii in 1983. She enrolled at the University of Hawaii and earned her professional diploma. She was a 3rd grade teacher at Kalihi-Kai Elementary School for 13 years and later became a district mentor teacher and resource teacher until she retired. She was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the United Bacarreneos of Hawaii, where she was President until her death. She always favored the underdog, underserved, and deprived people. She is survived by her husband, Onofre Ranchez, and 3 children, Angeline (Laransey), Ivy (Rey) and Cedric (Kim). She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 3 siblings, Jaime Aczon, Rodolfo Aczon, and Marianita Alejandro. She is predeceased by siblings Gregorio Aczon, Enedina Sales, & Melanio Aczon. Services will be held on Thursday, July 13th at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary - Mauka Chapel. Visitation begins at 5:30 PM; Wake & memorial service to follow at 6:30 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 14th at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Aiea at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Mililani Memorial at 2 PM.
