FRANK STEINMILLER Obituary

FRANK NEAL STEINMILLER Frank Neal Steinmiller passed away at home on November 7, 2022. He was 91 years old. Frank was born on April 14, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up in Kapahulu surfing, playing sports, and getting into mischief. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Stevenson Middle School, and Roosevelt High School. Frank, called Steiny by many, excelled in sports at Roosevelt and lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track. What he learned at Roosevelt Acapella Choir was one of the most influential lessons that he carried with him. His ear and love for music was shared and enjoyed with family and friends throughout his life. It was always a treat to hear Steiny singing at a social event. After high school he attended Hartnell Jr. College, but his college experience was interrupted when he served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He later attended Santa Monica City College, and then San Jose State University where he earned degrees in Sociology and Psychology. When he returned to Hawai'i he worked as a firefighter for the Honolulu Fire Department for a short while, and then was employed by Hawaiian Cement for 34 years in sales and distribution management. Frank married Virginia Wolf, his wife of 63 years, on September 5, 1959. In 1965, they moved to Kailua where they raised their 2 daughters and this home continues to be the Steinmiller Hale to this day. He was a loving, devoted, and proud husband, father, and grandfather, who always made sure the home was a place filled with security and love. Steiny was the life of the party. He was the person who you laugh and sing with into the wee hours of the morning. Frank was charming, witty, and had a rich, deep singing voice that filled the room at many social gatherings. He had the gift of making people feel loved and valued, and because of this, he developed countless long-lasting friendships throughout his life. He was an avid golfer and he always enjoyed the 19th hole. Frank was predeceased by his mother, Harriet Susannah "Soonie" Kim Campbell; father, Albert Lee Steinmiller; sister, Barbara Reeves; stepfather, Clarence Campbell, and stepsisters, Louise Bates and Carole Paulsen. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Steinmiller; daughters Shellee (David) Heen, and Jill LaBoy; grandchildren David Kahekili Heen, Taylor (Heather) Heen, Makana LaBoy, and Mahina LaBoy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. A private celebration will be held at a later date.
