Genevieve Salmonson Obituary

GENEVIEVE GENNY KAM YUK LEE SALMONSON Genevieve "Genny" Kam Yuk Lee Salmonson will be interred on Sunday Feb. 22 at Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery, Kane'ohe. A graveside ceremony at 11am in the Hillcrest Garden will be officiated by Rev. Mariko Nishiyama of Jikoen Hongwanji Mission, near her parents and many Lee family members. Genny died unexpectedly of natural causes in May 2020. She was a daughter of Harry Kan Yat Lee and Janet Hatsue (Gushikuma) Lee of Honolulu. She was a graduate of Farrington High School in 1964 and later University of Hawaii, Manoa. Her professional life included United Tire & Recapping Co. Ltd, Honolulu Recovery Systems Inc., and various appointed department positions under Governors Cayetano, Lingle, Abercrombie, and Ige. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother and auntie, survived by her son Michael Yamashita and his husband Colm Hegarty (San Francisco, CA); older sisters Doris Ohara and Judy & Lambert Fu (O'ahu); nephew Lance Ohara & Eileen Ohara (Castro Valley, CA); nieces Kellie & Bill Takashima, Terri Ann & Andy Anderson, Heather & Christian Oshiro, Jeanette & Eric White, Marlene & Toby Ohira-Tayama; and many great nieces and nephews (O'ahu). She was divorced from Thomas Yamashita and the late John Salmonson (O'ahu). Enter the cemetery from the entrance opposite Mahinui Rd., then pass the first intersection, the site is on the left near the curb just before the rightward curve. Please no flowers or donations.
