GLENN YOSHIMOTO Obituary

GLENN YOSHIO YOSHIMOTO Glenn Yoshio Yoshimoto, son of Kitaru and Momoyo Yoshimoto of Wahiawa, HI, was born on December 20, 1942 and passed peacefully in his home on May 24, 2024 with youngest sister Ann holding his hand. After graduating from Leilehua High School in 1960, attended the University of Hawaii for two semesters during which time he played too much and studied too little. Enlisted in the Marines and completed his last assignment at Camp Smith on Oahu. He never forgot his military training which changed his perspective in life and always said, "Once a Marine, always a Marine...Semper Fi, Always Faithful." Enrolled at Church College of Hawaii in Laie after his honorable discharge, and made the Deans List for the next five years, earning a Masters Degree in Sociology. During this time Glenn earned his black belt in Shotokan karate, studying under sensei Kenneth Funakoshi, along with his brown belt in judo from sensei Yasuyuki Sakabe while in high school. Glenn counseled many inmates while at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and retired as a State of Hawaii employee. After retirement he turned his passion into trips to Las Vegas to play blackjack, watching endless Korean dramas at home, finding the best food places in town and generously helping others in need. Glenn is survived by siblings, Lorraine, Ernie and Ann Yoshimoto, his niece Tammy Fagler, and nephew Brian Yoshimoto. Donations can be made by going to your favorite restaurant and raising a drink in remembrance to him. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Mililani Mortuary at a date/time to be announced. I got to know Glenn while he worked at the Kaiser Honolulu Clinic. I used to visit the security guard who worked on Sundays and had coffee and would just talk stories. I remembered Glenn always bought a BIG box of pastries from Kam Bakery on School St. for everyone that worked on Sundays. He always talked about going to Las Vegas with the security guard. Yes, Glenn was an always generous to everyone at his part-time job.Now he can be with his friend Lloyd the security guard . See you, Glenn. John

As a friend and a client, Glenn was very close to our hearts. He´s well-known for his generous heart, wit and unwavering compassion. Even during his most challenging times and his last days, he thought of the people he cared about and made sure that we all knew how deeply he cared. Glenn will be missed dearly.
