Gordon Watanabe Obituary

GORDON Y. WATANABE Gordon Y. Watanabe, 81, passed away on November 16, 2025. He was born in Pu'unene, Maui and graduated from Baldwin High School. He went on to attend the University of Washington where he received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Gordon worked for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a Naval Architect. After retiring from the Shipyard, he decided to spend more time at Mililani Hongwanji dedicating himself to do anything that needed to be done-from serving as a Temple President, to chairing or serving on committees for the annual O-Bon dances or rolling up his sleeves and doing weekly yard maintenance on the church grounds. He is survived by wife Lynette (Lyn), son Todd, and daughter Melissa. Gordon is also survived by brothers Reuben (Wendy) and Walter (Arlene). Services will be held on Sunday, January 25, at the Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation 12:30-1:30pm. Services will begin at 1:30pm.
