Hilma Chang Obituary

HILMA KIM OI CHANG 99, beloved mother of Agatha "Aggie" Esona (Alvin), Terence Akiona (Doreen), and Julie Shiroma (Randy), grandmother of 6 & great-grandmother of 6 went home to be with Jesus on July 26, 2023. Hilma was always surrounded by loved ones who will truly miss her. Hilma retired from Pearl Harbor, Navy Publication & Printing Services. She and her late husband Clarence Chang were frequent visitors to Las Vegas. Hilma was always a lucky person. She caught the last flight home before Vegas shut down in 2020. She loved traveling the world. Hilma was very active with the V.F.W. Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary 94, 1540, Kau Tom Post and American Legion. She served as Department President Aux. 94 for three terms. She also was chairman for many various National V.F.W. committees. Hilma also volunteered at the Arizona Memorial for over 10 years. In 2003 President Bush honored Hilma for her volunteer services at the Arizona Memorial. She was chosen to meet the President & First Lady. Hilma enjoyed making leis in her spare time, donating them to churches and to veterans. She often visited Tripler Hospital to pass out get well cards. Every year you could find her fundraising for our soldiers with red Buddy Poppies. She will always be in our hearts and in our loving memories. A Celebration of Hilma's life will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Visitation 9:00 am, Service 10:00-11:00 am at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Aloha attire requested.
