Irene Nagata Obituary

IRENE MISAE NAGATA Irene Misae (Morita) Nagata was born in 1940 in 'Ola'a on the Big Island and grew up in the 'Ola'a Sugar Plantation '9 mile Camp'. She graduated Hilo High School ('58) and continued her education at the University of Hawai'i Manoa (B. Ed) and Kansas State University (M. Ed) in mathematics. She married her college sweetheart Ronald Nagata and raised her family while she worked at the Hawaii Community College in Hilo for 30 years as a math professor. Irene is survived by her son Dr. Robb Nagata (Kelly); daughters, Dr. Ren?e Nagata and Rochelle Nagata-Wu (Jesse); and seven grandchildren. She cherished and was the heart of her family. She is truly loved and appreciated by her family and blessed with wonderful friends. A private service will be held. The family requests no monetary gifts (koden).
