JASON MAXWELL Obituary
JASON KALEIHULUOKALANI MAXWELL Loving husband and father, extremely passionate, generous, plenty of aloha, larger than life...and loved by thousands. These are just some of the things that come to my mind. On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Jason Kaleihuluokalani Maxwell, 43, passed away while at his residence in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by the love of his life, Nohea, and his three beautiful children, KaenaNohea, 18, MakoaNui, 11, and baby Fat, Kahiau, 2. Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Maxie John and Gwen Keala Maxwell, and younger brother David. He leaves behind his older brother, William (Anita), and sisters Juanita Camaganacan (Jimmy), and Kenniedean Schmidt (Satini), along with numerous 'Ohana in San Francisco, Las Vegas and throughout our Aloha State. Nieces and nephews, cousins, and thousands of braddahs and sistahs, who he called family, will miss him dearly. Jason, a proud Kaneohe native, grew up in Kaneohe and graduated from Castle High School where he played football for the Castle Knights. One of his favorite teachers from King Intermediate, Mr. Robert Gay, remembers him as being "kolohe" but with a big and caring heart. "He was always joking around, making everyone laugh. But whenever I needed his help, he was always there. Little did I know back then that one day we would be family". Jason was an enthusiast of vintage cars, motorcycles, mixed-martial arts, traveling, and living life large. As a family they took many trips to Disneyland, Disney World Orlando, Tokyo Disney, San Francisco, and Las Vegas for fun, family, Cheer Competitions, and football tournaments. He also enjoyed the many family skiing trips and nights around the fireplace throughout the Pacific Northwest. Dedicated to football as Nui's personal coach, he stood by Nui's side as they forged a new path from the St. Louis Crusaders to Game Changers Sports Academy in Las Vegas. This chapter is still being written. His love for his family is evident in the spirit and love that they carry in their hearts. "Aloha mau a mau." You will be forever in our hearts Dad. Jason embraced the many life lessons from his father-in-law whom he called the "Godfather" of Miomio, Frank E. Medrano, KS '57. The sadness and void is simply expressed by Frank when he plainly stated, "Jason was a good man. He was more than a son." Abigail Low Medrano, KS '57, his mother-in-law, was grateful to have a protector, a Kia'i, who handled the simple complexities of our dynamic lives. And in his gentle and kind manner he reminded us that, "We are Hawaiian."
