Only today did I learn of his passing. He was a wonderful colleague to me. I took these photos of him in his office one day jus messing around with my new camera in 2008.

A friend. A leader. A delightful mind. We co-taught a public health class and brainstormed how to improve our health. A generation of nurses had his attention and devotion. Aloha John.

It was a pleasure to work with John from 1987-1988 as his secretary. He was a workaholic. He came in early to the office and stayed late. He was very helpful to anyone who needed it. I remember his oatmeal for breakfast and his cups of coffee throughout the day. Rest in peace, John.
