Jose Kiambao Obituary

JOSE ALI KIAMBAO 97, of Pearl City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 14, 2026. On Valentine's Day, God called home a faithful servant whose life was rooted in love, strength, and generosity. A loving family man and devoted provider, he leaves a legacy of love that will live on forever. Born on September 23, 1928, in Honolulu, he was the second oldest of eight brothers who grew up in Damon Tract, where he learned at an early age about hard work and providing for his family. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and fought at the front lines of the Korean War. He continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserves as an auto mechanic, rising to the distinguished rank of Sergeant Major, serving as the G4 SGM (Transportation and Supply) for the Headquarters IX ARCOM (Army Reserve Command of the Pacific). He proudly retired after 35 years of military service in 1986. In retirement he enjoyed teaching auto mechanics at several public high schools. He loved going to Las Vegas a few times a year with family to play his favorite slot machines. A man of many talents, he loved music, singing and playing the ukulele. He was also a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, serving in the choir and on the bereavement committee. On November 28, 1953, he married the love of his life, Faye, who stood by his side for over 72 years. Together, they built a life and home filled with joy and love that brought family and friends together. Their greatest legacy is the family they created. He is survived by his wife, Faye, and their 3 children, who were his greatest pride: Laureen (Terry), Milton David (Bernie), and Jeffrey (Jody); 10 grandchildren, who were his absolute pride and joy; and 10 great-grandchildren, who were his greatest blessings. He is also survived by his beloved brothers: Vicente, Jesus (Jessie), Fabian (Maria), Julian (Nancy), and Manuel (Dorothy), along with many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothea and Pastor; his sister, Soledad; his brothers, Tony and John; and his sisters-in-law, Irene and Alvina. A celebration of life is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Pearl City. Visitation starts at 8:30am, Eulogy at 9:30am and Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment to follow at 2:00pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Aloha attire. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary
