MELVIN KALEIONAONA RODENHURST Melvin Kaleionaona Rodenhurst of Olomana, Kailua passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024 at the age of 95. Melvin or better known to family and friends as "Red" was born in Niu'lii on the Big Island to Walter Rodenhurst and Sadie Maile Bader. He was raised in Honolulu and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He retired from GTE Hawaiian Tel after 39 years of service. He is preceded in death by his lifelong sweetheart of 71 years, Betty Jane Leinani Van Gieson. He is survived by his brother William Rodenhurst; son Melvin "Oni" (Jill) Rodenhurst, Jr; daughters Kaleinani Bourke and Kekapa "Kapa" (Ed) Rodenhurst; grandchildren: Kamaile, Lahela, Vinny (Kira), Ikaika (Gabby), Iwalani and Pua; great-grandchildren: Aimee, Rylee, Steven and Logan. Service will be on January 25, 2025 at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe. Visitation at 9am. Service at 10am. Inurnment will be private at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Kaneohe.
