Michael Kikuyama Obituary

MICHAEL TOSHIO KIKUYAMA 73, of Honolulu, Oahu, passed away on December 27, 2022. Mike was born in Lahaina, Maui and was the youngest of seven children born to Taro and Otoyo Kikuyama. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, mentor, and proud graduate of Lahainaluna High School. Upon his graduation from high school, Mike attended Brigham Young University, Hawaii and later transferred to the University of Hawaii, Manoa where he graduated with a degree in Travel Industry Management. This led to his long and storied career in the tourism industry, working at the Halekulani Hotel and Waikiki Parc Hotel and developing many close friendships throughout the U.S., Japan, and Australia. Mike will always be remembered for how caring and giving he was, how he never asked for or expected anything in return, his infectious laugh, his smile, his numerous stories as a youthful rascal, and his positive outlook on life. He is survived by his son Rhett (Sarah), daughter Joy (Darrell) and five grandchildren Sage, Jennica (Joey), Kirra, Bayley and Dreycen. He is also survived by his brothers Harry (Tsuneko) Kikuyama and Masa (Flossie) Kikuyama. Public service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation at 10 a.m. Mask required. His ashes will later be spread along the west Maui coast as he had requested. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
