Michael Misaka Obituary

MICHAEL M. MISAKA Michael Mitsuru Misaka died on August 8, 2023 in the Lahaina Wildfires at the age of 61. Michael is survived by his daughter, Megan (Jake) Sweeting and grandson Jackson Michael Sweeting. Michael was born in Wailuku on December 26, 1961, grew up in Lahaina, graduated from Lahainaluna in '79, and attended University of Hawaii. Michael was always bartending at various establishments in Hawaii including Ruth's Chris, Pulehu, and lastly Cheeseburger in Paradise on Front St. If you live in Lahaina you may have seen Michael walking Lahainaluna Rd and Front St, swimming at the Lahaina Aquatic Center and eating at his favorite local spots. He loved tending to his "zoo" consisting of hundreds of tropical fish and aquarium plants, cooking and playing cards with his crew. Michael will always be remembered as a fun and loving father, food enthusiast, avid exerciser and a true island boy who loved his home. There will be a private service for Michael on July 7th. Afterwards, there will be an open celebration at Canoe Beach where his family would love to meet all of Michael's friends.
