MONA SAWAI Obituary

MONA K. SAWAI Mona K. Sawai, age 67, of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on November 2, 2024. Retired from the City and County of Honolulu Real Property Division and was formerly with Castle & Cooke Hawaii/Oceanic Properties. She was a member of the Soto Mission of Hawaii. Mona was a genuine friend to the many people she encountered during her lifetime, and a very giving, thoughtful and generous person. Predeceased by parents Yuwao and Fujino (Takahashi) Sawai. A private funeral service was held in December, and a private inurnment service will be held upon her release from the University of Hawaii Willed Body Program.

I met Mona at work, Oceanic Properties (Castle & Cooke) over 30 years ago. She was a kind, helpful, and supportive person. I admired her for visiting daily and giving meals to her mother who was in a nursing home. Mona had her own health challenges I learned. She recovered and later was in remission. I will remember her always. Rest in peace, Mona.
