Reiko Sugahara Obituary

REIKO SUGAHARA Reiko Sugahara of Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023, at the age of 90. Reiko was born on the Big Island of Hawaii, in Kukaiau, Hawaii, to Tsunematsu and Toyono Kuroiwa Sugahara. She suffered from Polio as a young child, yet she persevered and graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute (1951) and the University of Hawaii, Manoa (1955) where she earned a degree as a Medical Technician. Reiko worked as a Cytologist at LA County South Bay Hospital for over 20 years. Reiko traveled the world and was an excellent baker. She was the 8th of 9 siblings and is predeceased by: Hazue Masaki, Toshiko Hiraki, Naoto Kotaki, Sumie Takeguchi, Masaru Kotaki, Toyoko Lee, and Teruji Sugahara. She is survived by her younger brother James Sugahara, his family and dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family. A private service will be held at a later date on Oahu. No Koden.
