Roberts Hawaii Honors the Legacy of ROBERT NOBORU IWAMOTO, JR. Roberts Hawaii mourns the passing of our visionary leader, Robert Noboru Iwamoto, Jr., whose foresight, resilience, and deep commitment to people shaped the company we are today. Starting in the early 1980's, Robert Jr. guided Roberts Hawaii through decades of growth, transformation, and innovation. Under his direction, the company expanded statewide, evolving from its transportation roots into a diversified organization serving residents and visitors across the Hawaiian Islands. Robert Jr. was a bold and charismatic leader, known for thinking beyond convention and driven by an extraordinary work ethic. What truly set him apart, however, was his belief in people. He fostered a culture grounded in opportunity, accountability, and pride, which continues to define Roberts Hawaii today. Robert Jr.'s most enduring legacy is the transition of the company in 2007 to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), ensuring that the success of Roberts Hawaii would be shared by those who contribute to it every day. Today, Roberts Hawaii stands as one of the state's largest employee-owned companies, with approximately 3,000 employee-owners carrying forward the foundation he established. Robert Jr. will be profoundly missed. We are deeply grateful for his leadership, his unwavering faith in his employees, and the lasting impact he made on our company and our community. His legacy lives on in every employee-owner and in every guest we serve. We will honor him by continuing to lead with the same dedication, pride, and excellence that he exemplified. He was "The Best of The Best". There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 9th, from 10:00-11:30am, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, 30 N. Kukui Street in downtown Honolulu. In lieu of flowers, lei or other gifts, Robert's family asks that he be honored by sharing an act of kindness for a stranger or an expression of forgiveness for a loved one.
